Hey,

I would really like to apologise to you guys for the downtime experienced a few hours ago. I was working on the databases for Apoc and for some reason, some how, it deleted the forum database when I hit refresh.

Luckily .Phoenix had a backup of the database from Sunday so all posts after that have been lost. I am sorry for the trouble.

First, I want to wish everybody a happy new years I hope you have all had a great holiday.

Second, can everyone give a big thank you to Supremacy and Hemel for everything they've done.

Now Apoc has been relaunched and we will be doing quite a lot to it in the next few weeks, I hope you all like the new layout as it's taken us quite some time to do. If you find any problems with it or have any suggestions please send them to my PM box and I will ignore them accordingly... I mean I'll read them and take them on board.

Now this is early days for the new Apocalypse-GFX so the first few days or weeks wont be as active as I would have hoped but hopefully I am wrong and it starts with a boost. Although I assure you we will be doing whatever we can to get this place active, advertising, content... the whole shabang.

While this forum was near death it did still get quite a large number of members and we will be sending out an email explaining everything and asking (read as: begging) the members to pay us another visit. Anyway I don't want to make this too long but expect much more to come.

Situation Update

For anyone still paying visits.

The new Apocalypse-GFX layout has nearly been fully coded (and let me tell you that it's very VERY sexy, I'm proud of it). We're just adding in the buttons and fixing a few small things such as rearranging the forums (there are way too many as of now)..

I'm not going to open it up to the public for a week or two until we get everything sorted out, last year when I first opened the Apoc forums I made a big mistake by not thinking things through and not adding any content before opening up... that cost us dearly. What could have been a great graphics forum didn't turn out nowhere near as good. I'm not going to make that mistake again, I have been getting things together to add on the site and I will be uploading them on the day that I put the new layout up for the members.

The magazine which I promised you a long time ago has also nearly been done and I will be releasing the first issue on the 1st of January 2008. Every month on the 1st I will release another issue.

Also some of you may have noticed that in the past 2 months or so that Apocalypse got closed down twice by the hosts, this is their fault. There's a problem with the automatic payment and we had to pay manually, we didn't know. So we got closed down, after which we had to pay the fees plus the late fees. This shouldn't happen again.

While the forum has a pretty decent number of registered members (for a dead forum, it's done quite well) there are very few active ones. Again, my mistake. Didn't add anything to Apoc to make it worth their while... I am going to correct this. Once the new stuff is up I will remind all of the members through email (and then try get new members through advertisements and word of mouth among other things) of all the new things Apoc has to offer (finally), then it's really up to them. If we get 20 or so regular old members to stay active and post when we start up, then out of 50 more that join 10 of them might decide to become regulars themselves... and then out of another large number that join, some of them might decide to stay... and so on.

As I�ve said before Apocalypse-GFX has the potential to become a great graphics forum with a great community but once I do my part, it�s up to you to do yours.

Apocalypse-GFX will probably go offline for a few days while we change things around and stuff, it might happen sometimes within the next week or so. I will send out an email to all when it gets back online so after you see the board go offline there won't be any need for you to keep checking back to see when it's on (see how kind I am, always thinking of you <.<).

Little update on things

The magazine is nearly finished, just adding a few more things so expect that soon. Also I will be putting up "GFX Beginner Packs" up for download soon, they will basically help GFX newcomers learn basics, have tips, a set of basic tutorials, fonts etc. Then I will be creating others like "GFX Intermediate Packs" and so on. I will keep you up to date on all other ideas and developments, there might also be a few staff positions opening up soon, I'll let you know more about it soon.

Hey all,

If you havent already seen, there have been a few new features added to the forum, we will be continuing this upgrade for a bit and when all is done we will go through step by step all the new features, what they are for and how to use them properly.

All this is to improve Apoc and make it more enjoyable for everyone. Keep an eye out

New features + Advertising plans

Well ive finally fixed the fast reply problem with many other problems that was on the forums so thats good.

I've also added a reputation system which should be interesting and also ive adding a advertising plan for all of you people that want to advertise on our sexy forum, have fun.

Expect some more new features soon.

As some of you may know we have a new coder and he has been helping us out quite a lot in the past day or two. In the next few weeks we will be adding a few more things to Apocalypse such as a Flash Chat, which is kind of like an IRC, but better... a lot better. We will be adding banner advertising to the forums and possibly the main site (advertising prices are still being discussed). The main site will finally have content in it and the links won't just direct you back to the news page. The first issue of the magazine should also be released very shortly.

As for the forums, there have been a few problems in the past week such as the fast reply and edit buttons, but they are being worked on and should be fixed soon. The ranking section will go up as soon as I finish picking the rankers and finally the sixth SOTW is up.
